The story of a photographer

I have always treasured photographs, spending hours poring over family albums although I came to Photography as a Profession and Artist relatively late in life.

Prior to having my three daughters I had for the best part of 15 years, worked in the City as a Lloyd's of London Broker. It was a wonderfully social, fast paced career but it wasn't until I followed my joy in photography that I truly understood meaning to the saying "find a job you love doing and you never do a day's work in your life".  I wish I had found it sooner, although the hard-won gratitude that comes to those that can and do change career paths later in life would not have emerged. As someone once said to me "we get where we are meant to be, eventually" and I wholeheartedly believe this.

It was whilst arranging our wedding day in Cape Town, South Africa in 2008 and looking for a Photographer with my future husband that I first grasped how important photographs are in commemorating our lives. How much of a privilege it is to be a Photographer; to bear witness and creatively capture moments for others to treasure. The iPhone accelerated my interest and desire to document my growing family, but wanting to do more and better, I bought my first DSLR camera, enrolled on several evening digital photography courses in Canterbury, before moving on and undertaking a part time BA (Hons) Photography Degree with the University for the Creative Arts (OCA) in 2017. I went all in and have never looked back! Starting with friends and family portraits, moving on to events and local business brand story telling, my work has slowly evolved and branched out to taking on commissions.

Being chosen to take professional, intimate photographs of your life and loved ones is something I do not take lightly, for they are are an investment for the future you. It's always collaborative between photographer and subject, and nothing brings me greater pleasure than to capture what it is you want to treasure.
